Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs) are essential electrical safety devices designed to instantly disconnect power when leakage current to earth is detected. This rapid response helps protect both equipment and individuals by significantly reducing the risk of serious injury caused by sustained electrical shock.

RCCBs operate on the principle of detecting residual current—an imbalance caused by current flowing through unintended paths, such as through the ground due to insulation failure or other faults. When this irregular flow is sensed, the RCCB trips the circuit to prevent potential electrical hazards.

These devices are widely used in homes, offices, and commercial buildings where electrical safety is a priority. Typically installed on distribution boards, RCCBs can protect multiple circuits simultaneously. They are available in various sensitivity levels, generally ranging from 10 mA to 300 mA, allowing them to respond appropriately to different levels of leakage current.
